Dear Hofstra Faculty,

The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) is eager to partner with you as we support all of our students from through our 18 departments. You have already heard from the Center for University Advising (CUA) and the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) through HofFac, but know that all of our DSA colleagues are able to assist students. Please reach out and refer students to us. Below is a message of support from Vice President Houston Dougharty and Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students Gabrielle St. Leger, reminding students of our divisional resources.

Some of you have asked if the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHACC) is open – and it is and its staff is eager to support the physical and mental health needs of our students. Here are their details: SHACC (located on North Campus in the Wellness and Campus Living Center) is physically open the following hours: Monday through Friday 9a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Students seeking medical or counseling services should first call SHACC at 516-463-6745. To maintain the safety of all students, we have a phone triage system. When appropriate, clinicians may recommend an one-person follow-up evaluation. For our few students still in residence, resident on-call counselors remain available to respond to emergent mental health concerns after office hours (during off-hours, students should call Public Safety at 516-463-6606).

Thank you for support as we work together with our students this semester.

With Pride,
The Division of Student Affairs
